After 13 years in the NFL, I learned the game is won in the details nobody celebrates. This is everything I know, built into one system, so you can learn to think the game instead of just playing it.
The game is changing. But not always for the better.
Open social media today and you'll see interceptions, one-handed catches, big hits, and highlight reels. The flashy moments get millions of views.
What you don't see are the thousands of small details that made those plays possible. The footwork. The eyes. The keys. The communication. The leverage. The technique. The discipline. The countless hours spent learning why something happened instead of simply celebrating what happened.
I believe those details are getting lost.
Backpedals, 45 and 90-degree breaks, W-drills, one-on-ones. The drills have value, but they've become the whole plan.
Athleticism gets you to the next level. Then one day everyone is talented and everyone is athletic. Speed alone stops separating you.
Some of the most gifted athletes in the world struggle with the simplest football concepts. They know how to train, but they don't truly understand the game.
I wasn't the biggest player. I wasn't the fastest. I wasn't the strongest. But I learned to understand ball.
I learned where my eyes belonged, what my keys were telling me, what offenses were trying to accomplish, and what I should expect before the play ever started.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped simply playing defensive back and started thinking like one. Once I began seeing the game holistically, everything slowed down. I wasn't reacting anymore.
I was anticipating.
I wouldn't tell young Jordan to train harder. I'd tell him to keep learning football.
Obsess over the details nobody celebrates. Those details are what give you a chance to make the plays everybody remembers.
My goal is simple. I want to teach you how to think like a football player. More specifically, I want to teach defensive backs how to think like defensive backs.
Because once you understand the game, the game slows down. This isn't another drill library, and it isn't another highlight page. It's everything I've learned over 13 years of NFL football, organized into a system that teaches you how to actually understand the game.
Study the tape the way pros do, and learn to see what the offense is telling you.
Technique, footwork, and leverage built on a true NFL standard.
Terminology, route concepts, and situational football that make the game make sense.
How to talk the game, run the back end, and get everyone aligned before the snap.
Where to look, what it means, and how to know what's coming before it happens.
The countless notes I've taken over 13 seasons, opened up and organized for you.
A look inside the locker room. Film breakdowns, on-field instruction, and the details that separate pros, all in one place.
Who want to separate themselves and build an edge that lasts long after athleticism fades.
Who want another perspective from someone who played the position at the highest level.
Who want to better understand what their kids are learning and how to support them.
Who know talent alone isn't enough and want to learn to think the game, not just play it.
The Next Play Mindset has always been about more than football. Football is what we do. It isn't who we are.
In 2020, I was introduced to breathwork, and it completely changed the way I approached pressure. The more I trained my nervous system, the more I learned to regulate my thoughts, emotions, and responses instead of reacting to everything around me.
The following season, I was named an All-Pro. Breathwork wasn't the only reason, but it became one of the most valuable tools I've ever added to my life.
Pressure isn't something you eliminate. It's something you learn to navigate.
Learning football is one part of becoming an elite athlete. Learning yourself is the other. This side of the program is here when you're ready for it.
I wanted to build something I never had growing up. A place where I could sit at home and learn football from someone who had actually played it at the highest level.
A place where football knowledge wasn't hidden behind closed meeting-room doors. Where I could ask questions, study film, and keep learning every single week. More than anything, I wanted to build a locker room.
A place where we talk football, but we also talk about life. Where it's okay to ask questions, admit you're struggling, and keep growing. I've experienced the highs of this game, and the darkness that can come with it too.
If you're in that place right now, know this: You're not alone.
We believe the greatest coaches don’t create better athletes. They create better thinkers.
Better thinkers make better decisions.
Better decisions create better football.
Better football builds better teammates.
Better teammates become better leaders.
Better leaders change families and communities.
Football is simply where that journey begins.
The Mission
Football teaches discipline, leadership, accountability, resilience, and confidence. Eventually every player takes the pads off. The lessons stay.
Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep showing up. Master the details. Control what you can control. Play the game. Don't let the game play you.
